Changing phones: what to check before deleting a travel eSIM

A new phone does not necessarily let you reuse the same QR. Transfer and reinstallation rights depend on the product and its provider.

GORIL.IO Travel & service guides

Confirm your rights first

Check profile status, unused data and the provider’s reinstallation conditions. A phone’s built-in transfer feature may not work with every travel product. Verify the new device’s compatibility and carrier lock too. Ask GORIL support about your particular product before resetting the old phone; deletion does not automatically produce a replacement QR.

Separate account access from the profile

Signing into the same GORIL account retrieves order history, but it does not transfer the installed SIM profile automatically. Installation details and usable entitlement are separate. If transfer is unsupported, a new product may be necessary. Temporarily disabling a line is more reversible than deleting it; remove personal data and access securely before selling the old device.

TAKE IT WITH YOU

Your practical checklist

  • Confirm provider reinstallation rights.
  • Check the new phone’s compatibility.
  • Do not reset the old device before confirmation.

Make the next step yours.

Check current availability, features and terms for the service that fits your plans.
